“Thelma”: Maja Salvador’s First Indie Film

Talented young actress Maja Salvador recently wrapped up the principal photography of her first indie film entitled Thelma, produced, co-written, and directed by Paul Soriano whose first directorial job was “A Journey Home” (2009) starred by Direk Paul’s girlfriend Toni Gonzaga, Soliman Cruz, and Joem Bascon.

In Thelma, Maja plays a runner and so, she had to undergo rigid training from the Olympian Elma Muros who also plays a cameo role in the movie. Shot in Ilocos Norte and Manila, the film also stars Tetchie Agbayani, John Arcilla, and Eliza Pineda. Thelma is set to have an early 2011 playdate.

JUNE of 2009 when Villa Estrella, a horror flick from Star Cinema, was shown commercially in theaters. Its cast are popular ABS-CBN young stars Jake Cuenca, Shaina Magdayao, and Maja Salvador. It was during the press conference when we were able to get our exclusive video interviews from Shaina and Jake, who at that time, were being linked together by common fans and supporters.

It was also the last movie of Geoff Eigenmann in the film outfit of Kapamilya Network before he became a Kapuso talent, under the management of PPL Entertainment of Mr. Perry P. Lansigan. Over at GMA, Geoff was given primetime shows as lead actor in Rosalinda (launching TV show of Carla Abellana).

Villa Estrella is under the direction of Rico Ilarde.
